You and your data
What we do with your information?
When you purchase something from our online shop, as part of the buying and selling process, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name, address and email address. (We do not store or collect your payment details – see Payment section below)
Email marketing (if applicable): With your permission, we may send you emails about our products.
When requesting free swatch samples you are agreeing that your data can be used by S.W. James to contact about your swatch request. You will receive 3 short follow up messages. You may opt out of these email messages independently at any time. Rest assured your data will not be shared with any other third parties.
Payment and your security
Our payment process and all secure card transactions are hosted on Nochex (Limited). They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to take payment from you safely and security.
Your data is stored through Nochex (Limited) data storage, databases and the general Nochex (Limited) application. They store your data on a secure server behind a firewall.
Nochex (Limited) are secure online payment specialists and store your credit card data securely. S.W. James itself does not hold any payment or secure card data. Your data is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted.
For all orders placed under £4,000 payment terms are 100% of order value on ordering. For orders over £4,000 payment terms are 50% of order value as a deposit on ordering, with the balance due prior to despatch. We have structured payment this way for larger order values to reassure our customers and allow them to make an initial deposit and release the final payment only when their order has been completed and is ready to ship.
The Nochex (Limited) gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.
At S.W.James we take your data seriously. We only collect the data that is absolutely essential to our business operations and we never sell or pass this data on to third parties or utilise it in a manner that is not fitting to the purpose of our business.
We may from time to time email you offers or promotions – you may opt out of any such marketing either via the links on our emails or via your control panel. You have the option to opt out of such activity at the point of purchase.
Telephone numbers will only be used to keep customers informed of their orders or in response to enquiries made.
If you have entered your postal details with us in the past you may receive periodic mailings from us with information on new products or promotions. If you do not wish to receive such mailings please let us know in writing or via your options in the customer area.
Passwords that we store for the use of login areas are all encrypted and salted for security, and all data transmitted on our website is via industry standard SSL encryption.
We do not hold any credit or debit card information on the S.W.James servers – all payment data is handled securely via Nochex (Limited) and their secure servers.
